Western Cape Hiking

South Africa’s Western Cape province is an incredible place for hiking with several world-renowned trails. On this Next Stop Africa tour, we trade the hubbub of the city for the natural diversity of the countryside on four separate day-hikes.

Experience breathtaking views of the Jonkershoek valley; discover hidden beaches along the Palmiet River trail; swim under waterfalls in Bainskloof and be transported into the fairy tale floral world of Namaqualand. Not to mention a wine farm horse trail to give the legs a break on day 4!

Walking each route, hikers have great chances of spotting endemic birds, hyraxes and

antelope such as eland, springbok, wildebeest, springbok and zebra. Hikers require a

reasonable level of fitness, need to be over 10 years of age and able to carry snacks and

water for distances of 10km. There are no shops or restaurants inside these parks, it’s a

totally natural experience.
